Social Marketing
The NACC, in collaboration with its partners, conducts social marketing campaigns to encourage the correct and systematic use of male and female condoms and lubricants as means of preventing HIV and STIs. These campaigns aim to raise awareness, inform and educate populations about the benefits of condoms, remove barriers to their use, and strengthen their availability and accessibility. Free distribution and condom demonstration activities are generally organized during campaigns, based on events such as AIDS-Free Holidays, the Cameroonian AIDS Control Month, University Games or other occasional opportunities. These activities reach a wide audience, including young people, women, key populations and people living with HIV. They thus help reduce the risk of HIV and STI transmission and protect the sexual and reproductive health of populations.
As part of the intensification of Social Marketing activities, a Technical Working Group on Condoms was set up to capitalize on the achievements of all interventions, and to develop, through a participatory approach, an effective strategy for improving the accessibility of condoms in Cameroon. The TWGC, which is a multisectoral body for technical consultation and support for strengthening advocacy for accelerating universal access to condoms, meets as a committee twice a year.
